In Search of Famous Restaurants that New York Offers

For a real connoisseur, few things are as interesting as a beautifully made menu – the moment every part comes together properly, it’s quite enchanting. At the same time, a poor dish can mess up an otherwise pleasing night, so it’s natural to do some research and look around for feedback when choosing where to eat.

As if that does not make things tricky enough, there’s much more to take into account about a restaurant than just the meal! The character of a restaurant can really make a difference in your overall experience, whether it’s supercilious and unskilled personnel or a crying young child another table over. Nevertheless it’s not all unfavorable, naturally – a fantastic atmosphere can change a decent meal into an incredible dinner!

We’ve lived in New York for a long time now, and we have put together quite a nice collection of eateries we adore, which ranges from tiny mom-and-pop businesses to beautiful fine dining, and the following are a few of our all-time favorites (even though it was so tough to select!). This is what folks on Yelp.com are saying when it comes to our faves:

1. Roberto’s

603 Crescent Ave
Bronx, NY 10458
(718) 733-9503

The atmosphere is rustic and sweet (dark enough to be romantic, but still family friendly during the day). What’s best is that the restaurant is situated off of Arthur avenue, so it’s quiet and away from the bustle of the main artery of Little italy. The wait staff is on point and very helpful. The portions are big (which is the way Italian should be) and the food is so fresh and so delicious.

2. Babbo Ristorante e Enoteca

110 Waverly Pl
(between Mac Dougal St & W Washington Sq)
New York, NY 10011
(212) 777-0303

Best REAL Italian food in the city.   Some stars on the menu are fish, like a grilled Branzino, Octopus, etc.  Def must eat here before you die.  Wine selection is ridiculous.  Staff is ridiculously helpful.  Hats off to Batali and Bastianich.
Make those reservations!!!

3. Per Se

10 Columbus Cir
(between Broadway & W Central Park)
New York, NY 10019
(212) 823-9335

Insanely expensive but insanely awesome. Its not something you do often but its a splurge for a special occasion. From the food to the service, everything is above and beyond. The gravy was able to get peek into the kitchen and see how everything was prepared!

- Rich Z. (Manhattan, NY)
